Food waste 7.5T in trouble - Folkestone

Sometimes the smaller ones can be more awkward than you would expect. This little thing only weighs 7.5 t, yet it fought until the end before eventually being dragged off to Folkestone. The bin was laden with sloppy food waste which naturally fell to the lower side.
The road was once again too small for a large vehicle, had deep water filled dykes at either side with virtually no verge and a sudden steep slope into them. Some overhanging branches had to be removed in order to get anywhere near the vehicle. You can see the images show the failing road surface, unable to support the weight and the inability to get enough room for stabilisers.
The bin on the casualty is made of plastic and it had some fairly delicate lifting equipment on the side that gave little ground clearance , especially when coming over the top of the embankment. It was necessary to change the rigging several times to complete the operation. There was a small tree in the dyke which had been the only thing that prevented it from laying on its side in the water and silt. It was taken back to its workshop for a thorough wash and inspection.
