Peterbilt 379/Vulcan V100 8x4 Restoration

We had this truck new around about 2000. It was a well spec'd truck with the signature 600, dual frame, V100 etc etc. It performed very well and had covered around 600,000 miles before it was involved in an accident. It was kept running with an odd bonnet etc before we decided to take it off the road and give it a fairly major overhaul. The chassis was stripped and shot-blasted, engine and gearbox have been dismantled and rebuilt. It has been fitted with a different turbo-charger, manifolds, fuel map, injectors and will run water-methanol injection. It should produce around 900bhp in its new form.

We altered the locker style to do away with the small doors it had when supplied. The marker lights have been recessed into the bodywork to allow the upwards opening doors, and we feel it looks better. The rear lights have been changed from the corner style to a stacked arrangement. Substantial work was also done to the legs and rear framework.

The paint is an ink and pearl which costs a fortune, but looks fantastic. We have our own paintshop and the guy that works in there is really fanatical over his work. The style of the grill, headlamps, indicators etc have all been changed to make the truck look older, as has the style of paintwork. There is still a lot more to do yet, but we hope it will make the road sometime this year.

This is how it looked when new:

Unfortunately it had a bit of a 'bump', so had this fierce bonnet to keep it on the road for a bit longer...

...and then work began!
