Training day!

Post by MGC » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:21 pm

Training carried out at our yard. As you can tell from the blue skies, these were taken earlier this year!

It was a very interesting day. After the theory was completed, the instructor (Nick Ovenden), myself and Richard decided that we would try alternative methods of righting an overturned artic. We did it with an empty fridge trailer. The idea was to see if we could park in front of the casualty and right/restrain it using only 2 winches. The method employed worked extremely well, we also righted the casualty again using the 6x6 Foden which is fitted with a single hook from the crane and a drag winch only. We opted to do this maneuver by reversing up to the roof of the trailer.

All of our training courses with Nick have been extremely beneficial and it is always good to experiment with different techniques when the opportunity arises.
