Detour causes problems
This loaded artic had to take a detour around narrow steep lanes. It was unable to climb the gradient and slide sideways, stopping with a large tree between the front of the trailer and back of the cab. There was a very steep drop to the left and side, and the road only wide enough for the one vehic...

Narrow lanes claim another victim (or two!0
This is typical of the back roads in this area. The weather makes this time of the year the busier season, things like this become fairly commonplace. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag57/mickgould1/Narrow%20lanes/11Copy_zps1b9e4dde.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag57/mickgould1/Narrow%...

Awkward job
The chassis of this transporter failed, letting the deck etc collapse onto the carriageway. It was loaded and remained so after much time spent lifting and blocking etc in order to make the vehicle fit to take back to its base. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag57/mickgould1/Car%20transporter/1C...

Another dustcart overturns in London
This is sister vehicle to one we righted earlier this year ( http://www.mickgouldcommercials.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=6723&sid=776135b5242cf6d217cca8167507ec49 ). The accident happened on the 5 ways junction at Eltham. It's a busy junction and it caused traffic problems for quite a while. It w...

Loader tipper overturns in ditch
This incident was caused by the actions of another driver. Fortunately the truck driver had enough time to take evasive action, preventing what could have been a much more serious accident. It was fully loaded with stone (32T gvw), quite a lot of this stone was shoveled out by hand to prevent furthe...

Not a good place to send the Rotator!
Had to attend this job near Eastbourne. The fuel tanker had managed to get all the way around the track before the front axle sank. He also lost low range and the transmission. The rotator had to reverse round on the built up level which is made of timber chippings etc. The amount of rainfall we hav...

Van driver has lucky escape M25 J8-9
Not sure how he ended up here, but the van took out a long length of crash barrier before clearing the underpass and ended up facing the wrong way in trees, some distance off the road. It was still loaded with milk and food, it was too far to reach with a hiab. We just did the lifting as an assistan...

Nature nearly won this one!
I think this is one of the hardest jobs we have ever done. It was several years back down on the West Sussex/Hampshire border. We have done many diggers in ponds and river bottoms etc. These are comparatively easy as you can either drain the pond/stop the river etc and if a ramp is formed, you simpl...

Burnt out German trailer (M25)
This was on the M25 J6-5. It was carrying large rolls of paper toweling. One hub bearing failed, heated up and caught fire. Fortunately the driver had the presence of mind to disconnect the towing vehicle. The fire brigade had difficulty extinguishing the fire, this resulted in the weight going up d...

Two wheeled Daf!
This accident took place in North London during the Summer. It was quite a sweeping bend and the truck was loaded. As it went round the corner, it did a James Bond and went someway on two wheels, striking several vehicles before coming to rest on the poor old Ford. We had to restrain it whilst stand...

Cherry picker overbalanced
This job was considerably more difficult than it first appears. Workmen were attending to overhanging branches using the cherry picker to reach the furthest/highest limbs. Due to the distance/surface, they struggled to get ideal stability on the machine. When it was out at a considerable height and ...

Loaded 8-wheeler in ditch
Fully laden 8-wheeler pulled over and slid into the ditch. Both diffs and front axles were on the ground, there was concern over the tarmac and the time it had been stood on the truck. Fortunately it came out readily with no further damage. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag57/mickgould1/101_168...

Scaffold lorry down embankment (M25)
We were called to attend this vehicle which had gone through the barrier and down the steep embankment into the forest. It was an awkward job as he had traveled a long way down the embankment and wasn't visible from the road. Both rotators attended, one holding it steady whilst the other pulled it u...

Artic stuck on collapsed manhole
(North Kent). This truck had only been on the road for a number of days. The driver pulled over to check on his delivery, unfortunately the manhole cover collapsed. The fuel tank etc were grounded, it was decided to tilt the cab, lift from the axle and then place the axle on a large timber block. Th...

Coach in off road in trees
This was a Dutch coach with students on board which, for unknown reasons, veered off the road into the trees. The rotator attended, along with the Western Star, to lift the vehicle as it had become lodged on top of a tree stump, posts etc. It was then towed back to our base by the Western Star. http...
